Review Title:

Mills College - a wonderful two years in the Ivory Tower

Full Review of the Program:

I loved getting my MFA in English and Creative Writing at Mills College. The professors and visiting writers were amazing, and I learned not only craft but theory. I grew as a writer, and most of all, I got a chance to spend time really writing. I learned about my voice and what I had to offer. I took myself seriously as a writer for the first time.

And now, ten years later, with a three-book deal from HarperCollins, I can't help but think that what I learned at Mills -- the belief in myself as a writer -- is finally paying off.

Advice to Prospective Students:

Oakland is a magical city -- embrace it as your own when you live here. Explore it, and love it. It's part of the Mills experience. I haven't wanted to leave since I graduated, and I can't imagine I will.
