Review Title:

In the MFA in Poetry Program at Drew University I grow continuously and exponentially as a poet.

Full Review of the Program:

As a low residency program, it demands that students work hard and practice their craft in a disciplined fashion. It is understood that we as students will learn and develop as poets to the extent that we commit time and energy to the program. What we get back is incredibly valuable: support, insight, a sharp eye and encouragement from a wonderfully diverse group of poet-teachers. The residencies provide us with skillfully-led workshops, brilliant lectures and faculty readings. The generosity of the faculty in terms of their commitment to nurturing students is exemplary.

Advice to Prospective Students:

If you are interested specifically in intensive study of poetry and becoming the best poet you can be, strongly consider this program. Be prepared to alter your daily life to make room for careful reading as well as writing. You will be rewarded.
