Chatham encourages writer's development in every way possible, without being unrealistic.
Full Review of the Program:
I have liked nearly every experience I've had in the program - starting with course make-up. There are several options for the Literature and Content classes, and they fed ideas into the Workshop classes.
I was able to focus my work from a perspective that both is and isn't part of the program, which was perfect for me.
Chatham hosts visiting, contemporary writers and their work is often placed into a class reading list, so it is a fun, integrated experience.
The Field Seminars are the best!!! You get an inside view on a place you otherwise would not be able to.
I loved that I was able to get a Certificate in Publishing and was able to gain editing experience.
There is not anything I did not like about the program.
Advice to Prospective Students:
If you are interested in writing about nature and travel, this is the program to attend. If you're ready to get truely find and be comfortable with your writing, apply.

Several students have young families. Enrollment doesn't seem to have caused them any problems.
Cost of Living (5=most affordable)
A cool thing about Pittsburgh, is that it is an affordable city. It varies by neighborhood, but there is a range of prices $300-800/month within a 3 mile distance to campus, depending what you are looking for and where.
