Program Description

One of the leading low-residency MFA programs in the U.S., the Stonecoast MFA program provides a superb, open-minded, and rigorous two-year graduate education in the art of writing. Semesters begin with stimulating ten-day residencies at the historic Stone House on the breathtakingly beautiful coast of Maine. Award-winning faculty guide students in intensive one-on-one tutorials in creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and popular fiction, with possibilities for elective work in other areas including writing for stage and screen, translation, performance, and cross-genre. Stonecoast's supportive community helps students to discover their independent voices while communicating to a wide readership.
