Program Description
The MFA writing program at UC Irvine is small, consisting of approximately 20-25 students in total. It is a two year program whose main focus is the writing workshop. Roughly 2/3 of the students work consists of participation in the workshop, the remainder consists of graduate level writing and literature seminars. A book length manuscript of fiction or poetry is submitted at the end of the second year. All students receive some form of financial assistance.
