Program Description
Founded in 1969, the Temple Masters of Fine Arts program in Film and Media Arts focuses on alternative film and video. While students are encouraged to work in all media art forms, including experimental and new media, the program’s particular strengths are documentary and independent narrative films. The program emphasizes socially conscious work of high artistic merit, and is dedicated to fostering the voices of those often ignored by Hollywood and mainstream media, including minorities, women, and others who have been politically, economically, or artistically disenfranchised. The program consists of approximately forty students from a diverse range of backgrounds and countries. Notable alumni include Barbara Attie, Ariella Furman, Sheldon Yeager, and Heidi Saman.
