Program Description
In 2005, PCOM has expanded its tradition of excellence with the creation of a branch campus in Gwinnett County Georgia. Located just north of downtown Atlanta, the campus's curriculum, activities and academic calendar mirror that of the Philadelphia campus. The College's primary focus is to train students from Georgia and nearby southern states to practice osteopathic medicine and encourage them to locate in inner cities and rural areas, which are experiencing a shortage of physicians.
Students find the educational program at PCOM is an optimal blend of classroom teaching, clinical experience and research. From the first day of medical school, PCOM student begin learning the osteopathic approach to health care: treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. Early clinical exposure through community service activities and formal course work implement basic science instruction. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, and includes topics such as medical ethics and medical law, and emphasizes primary care and prevention. PCOM is committed to helping each of its students choose a career that matches their specific talents and interests.
