Program Description
The MFA writing program at Minnesota State University Moorhead has been designed to accommodate both full-time and part-time students. Students concentrate on fiction, poetry, nonfiction. playwriting, or screenwriting, but are encouraged to try writing in genres other than their concentration. It is a 42 credit program and students must complete a creative thesis to graduate. It usually takes students between 2.5 and 5 years to complete the program. Some students are offered teaching assistantships. Students also have the opportunity to work with New River press, the oldest non-profit small press in the United States, and Red Weather, the campus literary magazine.
