Program Description

The MFA writing program at Indiana University is a three year, 60 credit hour program. The program was founded in 1948, making it one of the country's oldest. Approximately 12 students are accepted each year, and all students receive financial assistance, usually in the form of a teaching assistantship. Students with teaching assistantships teach three courses annually and take courses in creative writing and composition pedagogy. All students have the opportunity to work with the Indiana Review. Indiana University also offers a MA creative writing program which requires 30 credit hours to complete.
