Program Description
Hollins University offers two unique graduate programs in screenwriting and film studies: an M.F.A. degree in screenwriting and an M.A. degree designed for students whose primary interest is the academic study of film. The programs are offered during yearly six-week summer sessions and the degrees can usually be completed in three to five sessions. Students become part of a supportive community of screenwriters, filmmakers, and scholars who share a love of the art of film. Class sizes are small and students enjoy regular interaction with a distinguished faculty from Hollins and institutions across the country. Students also benefit from an exciting series of visiting screenwriters, filmmakers, and film scholars during each summer term, in addition to a regular series of film screenings and discussions. Students live on Hollins’ historic and beautiful campus, just minutes from Roanoke, which offers many cultural amenities.
