Program Description
EICAR, the International Film School of Paris is a practical, industry oriented filmmaking program located in the EMGP t.v. studio lot in the north of Paris. The International Department is headed up by film director Bob Swaim (Cesar award winning, LA BALANCE) and it seeks to provide students a cutting edge curriculum fused with a real emphasis on building a bridge to the industry.
Representing all nationalities in its student body, EICAR offers undergraduate and post graduate degrees in filmmaking with instruction in English. Students can specialize in their second year in one of the five given disciplines: directing, editing, cinematography, producing and screenwriting. Practical lessons and real field experience form the core syllabus of all programs. Paris provides the rich backdrop for a curriculum taught in the English language, rare for a continental European film school. The professors are working professionals.
The undergraduate BFA program is a three year model, while the graduate program allows for a two year concentration. The Fast Track one year program allows students to gain core knowledge in an intensive setting.
The school has organized joint ventures with the French Cinemateque and several prominent festival prizes for student work as well as prominent guest speakers like Oliver Stone (PLATOON), Claude Lelouch (A MAN AND A WOMAN) and Gloria Katz/Willard Huyck (INDIANA JONES).
