Cornell University MFA Program in Creative Writing

Average Overall Rating

Program Description

The MFA program at Cornell University is a small one; Cornell enrolls only 8 students per year, 4 in fiction and 4 in poetry. Each student is fully funded and works closely with two faculty members who offer continued guidance and support. Students enroll in one workshop per semester and must take 6 additional non-workshop courses, as well as complete a book length manuscript to graduate. Students also gain teaching experience and editorial experience, working on the staff of Epoch, a periodical of contemporary literature published by the English department.
