Program Description

The CalArts Writing Program is a two year course which offers three options for study: The Writing Program, Interschool Writing, and Integrated Media. As part of an institution dedicated to experimental arts, genre experimentation is encouraged. Students are expected to combine both creative and critical courses. Courses are offered in fiction, poetry, essay, cultural commentary, new fiction, experimental performance, and writing for interactive and mixed media, among others.
