Program Description

Our postgraduate course in Creative Writing offers:
• one to one teaching and supervision by established writers and academics
• the opportunity to develop your own specific interests, working in the genre and style of your choice
• the flexibility to study on a full or part-time basis
• readings and visits by writers throughout the year
• an atmosphere where creativity is the norm rather than the exception
• the opportunity to develop an awareness of your own writing and writing processes through combining creative and critical work
• preparation for a future career in writing

You can combine creative and critical work, or concentrate on a number of shorter creative pieces, under individual supervision. The dissertation provides the opportunity to complete an extensive piece of writing in a genre of your choice. You will also develop the full range of research and personal skills required for successful postgraduate study and an understanding of the main theoretical approaches to writing. You can study for an MA over one year full-time or two years part-time.
